Dear Ambassador Kerich:

We are writing concerning the disappearance of Mulinge Muteti, a member of the Revolutionary Students Commission in Kenya, after his arrest earlier this week.

We understand that Mr. Muteti went missing on 21 September 2026 around Aga Khan Walk in Nairobi while he was preparing press statements concerning the #FreeBesigye mass action. In his last communication, he informed his colleagues that he had been arrested. Despite efforts to trace him through several police stations in Nairobi CBD, his whereabouts remain unknown.

More than 48 hours have now passed without his family and comrades receiving confirmation of where he is being held or information about his condition. We are particularly concerned because Mr. Muteti has existing health complications resulting from previous encounters with state authorities.

This is a plain case of political repression against a human rights activist. We demand confirmation of Mulinge Muteti's whereabouts, and that he be immediately released to his family and comrades.

Free Mulinge Muteti! No reprisals!
